Preview - January 2012, Fa Cup 4th Round

By:

We start on Friday night though, as Watford host Tottenham in a London derby. Watford havent had the best seasons in the Championship but have a great tie to look forward to here. Tottenham havent won the FA Cup since 1991, and with their current squad, they will want to take the tournament seriously this year. There is another game on Friday night, and it takes place at Goodison Park, as Everton welcome Fulham in a all Premier League clash. Everton got the final back in 2009, when Fulham were quarter finalists. Both sides will be hoping to match or better that seasons record with a win here.

Two early kick offs on Saturday, and both are crucial derbys. QPR host Chelsea at 12:00pm, and earlier on in the season, QPR beat Chelsea in the league by a 1-0 scoreline. Chelsea have recently won the FA Cup in 2007, 2009 and 2010. There are more reasons than 1 which this game is highly anticipated, but both sides will fancy their chances, as Mark Hughes goes against his former side. Another early game on Saturday is of course Liverpool against Manchester United. Both sets of fans are warned to be on their best behaviour as their obvious rivalry has also been fuelled by the recent racism row in between Evra and Suarez. Luis Suarez will not be playing in this match, but Evra probably will. It doesnt get much bigger than this as both sides have so much history in this competition as Liverpool have won it 7 times and Manchester United have 11 times. Should promise to be a fascinating match, and there can only be one winner.

Tie of the round sees Manchester United - quite possibly led by Patrice Evra - visit Liverpool - without the services of Luis Suarez - at Anfield. Elsewhere there is potential for plenty of upsets, with Newcastle and Tottenham both facing difficult away trips while Arsenal host Aston Villa.

Liverpool and United clash on Saturday in a hugely anticipated meeting at Anfield of the two most successful sides in English football history. Sir Alex Ferguson is without Phil Jones, Rio Ferdinand and Nani as the injuries stack up at Old Traffrord, while Wayne Rooney faces a late fitness test.

Arsenal v Aston Villa :

Sunderland v Middlesbrough :

Form: West Brom head into the Hawthorns encounter with two wins in their last three, including a 4-2 victory over Carling Cup finalists Cardiff. Norwich drew with Chelsea last time out, ending a run of three straight wins.

We conclude with a few cracking matches on Sunday. Sunderland host Middlesbrough in a Northern derby. Middlesbrough hope to be back in the Premier League next season, and one thing for certain is that Sunderland will be there as their form is now brilliant under Martin ONeil. Another fantastic derby to look forward to this weekend. Arsenal and Aston Villa finish off the weekend, and as we know Arsenal have lost 3 Premier League matches in a row, and narrowly beat Leeds in the 3rd round. Arsenal fans will be expecting a performance here against an Aston Villa team who will not be easy to beat.
