President Obama Requests For Moms To Return To School

By:

Typically, a student will begin their college search their junior year of high school and the application process would start early their senior year. These days, it is becoming less of a rarity for mothers to also choose what college they want to attend themselves to obtain a higher education or a second degree. These mothers are taking advantage of President Obama"s call for moms to return to school allowing themselves the chance of securing a higher paying job and preparing for a better future for their families.

The President Obama's call for moms to return to school is a scholarship skewed toward the Federal Pell Grants and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG). A person can apply to the Federal Pell Grant through FAFSA, which is a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. After applying for FAFSA, your application will be reviewed and you will be notified your grant amount. Unlike student loans, which are loans that have to be repaid with interest rising every year, the President Obama's scholarship for moms program is grants that do not have to be repaid. Moms can breathe easier knowing that President Obama has taken the financial aspect of going back to school out of the equation for them.

For secondary educations, the Federal Pell Grant is the most applied for grant. However, many other types of federal and state grants are available to the mothers who are seeking their college degree. Most of these grants are funded by private institutions, federal organizations and corporations, and privately through some individuals, offering scholarships. If you do not get the amount to help fully cover your costs, look for these other scholarships and grants that you are available to you. There are many scholarships and grants available for all people in all fields of study.

This past year, President Obama has increased the Federal Pell Grant availability from $4000 to $5000. He has also made it possible for the federal government to offer student moms The American Opportunity Tax Program which gives many mothers the chance to apply their first $4000 to college tuition costs.

There are no restrictions to the college or university that can be chosen with the Federal Pell Grant; it is your money to be used for your education needs. Moms can study on campus, community colleges, junior colleges, universities or private institutions to receive their degree. They can even take online courses, also known as distant learning, to obtain their degree if they do not have the time to commute; giving them a chance to stay home with their children and keep their job. Online courses allow moms to view the lectures and do the homework at their own leisure.
