Present Ideas That'll Do You Proud

By:

Coming up with present ideas for Christmas, Birthdays, Easter, Anniversaries and other events is hard work. The hardest presents to get are for people you don't know too well, or for those people who already have everything. To come up with present ideas that will do you proud, we recommend that you get a pen and paper and 'brain storm'.

If you have never 'brain stormed' before, brain storming involves writing down any idea that pops in to your head no matter how silly or ridiculous it is, because by writing down every silly idea a few which at first seem silly, but really are not could emerge. Think about interests and hobbies, what the person does for a job, what has made the gift receiver happy in the past and write down all the things which pop in to your head and then start crossing out ideas that are really mad.

If you remember someone watching a movie and loving the scenes where the hero escaped in a helicopter, maybe a helicopter ride experience day could be the perfect gift? If you write down something about hearing them singing yesterday morning, maybe a recording session experience day would be good instead. Or, if they tell you all about their favourite football team, maybe a specially made memento full of newspaper articles about the team winning would be a sweet present.

The Thought Counts

That old saying 'it's the thought that counts' only ever seems to get brought up when you've got someone a present which is rubbish. "I'm sorry it broke after the first week," you say and they respond: "Aw well, it's the thought that counts." Really though, if you had truly given the gift some thought you would have got them something better! You know that and feeling guilty about getting faulty or boring gifts is pointless.

The thought really does count, so do some thinking. You do not have to spend a lot of money. The newspapers recently published stories that the UK is out of the recession, which is exciting and fun but it does not mean you have to rush to the bank and spend a bomb on anyone. You can still be careful with the cash and get people good, thoughtful gifts.

For example, engraved gifts are often much less expensive than people expect and you can put any message on them to really tug on the heart strings of your loved ones. Engraved money boxes are great for little kids, cufflinks suit gentlemen and jewellery boxes with a message engraved on the lid are perfect for teenage girls and mature women.

Personalised Cards

Whatever present ideas you come up with and whatever gift you choose to buy, personalised cards can make a great addition to a present. They are much more thoughtful and engaging because you can add the name of the receiver (or a nickname) to the front of the card. It's incorporated seamlessly in to the design and there are tons of colourful designs to choose from too.

One really nifty thing about personalised cards is that you can have them made up and then either have them printed with a message inside and sent to someone you love, or sent to you blank inside for you to write your own message in them.

Delicious Gifts

For those of us who are still stuck after the brainstorming sessions and considering engraved gifts, edible, yummy scrummy present ideas are a last bastion of hope! Dough Dough gift hampers with muffins or cakes or chocolate are lovely and come with a little printed gift card so you can add any message you like to go with the sweet treats. Those get sent straight out to the receiver too, so you don't have to do any dodgy wrapping or get any paper cuts to show someone how much you care. In that respect it's a little like ordering flowers.

There are lots of other similar gifts too, such as haribo sweetie hampers which, apparently, kids and grown-ups both love! Or retro sweet hampers packed with delectable, memory jogging candy such as gobstoppers, sherbet saucers, black jacks, foam shrimp and red laces. The sweetie hampers don't usually come with a gift card so to add that personal touch (or 'the thought that counts') it's a good idea to get a personalised card too and write something meaningful inside it.

You could quote a favourite author or poem, or even quote a favourite film. Whatever effort you make with your gift and card the receiver is certain to appreciate. In the end, you should have given them a gift that you are proud of!
