Pregnant! Heres What You Need To Do

By:

The pregnancy test is positive and yes you are now pregnant. So what do you do next? Of course share the joy with your spouse but remember there are also other things you need to care about for you and your babys safety. Prenatal care is important during the stages of pregnancy. Here are some helpful tips that can assure you a healthy pregnancy.

Visit your doctor regularly: The most important thing that you must do when you get pregnant is to visit your doctor. Your doctor will probably tell you the procedures to take care looking at your medical history. You must make it a point to visit your doctor from time to time for check up.

Take essential prenatal vitamins and minerals every day: A visit to the doctor stands first but taking a prenatal vitamin is also very important. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has stated that pregnant women need a lot more iron. Diet alone cannot provide you enough and a prenatal vitamin can provide you with all the essential nutrients that are needed during pregnancy. A woman who is pregnant must keep this thought at the highest priority. You must take a prenatal vitamin that has most of the vital vitamins and minerals and whether it can be easily absorb or not.

A healthy diet: Load up your fridge with fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A healthy diet is essential whether pregnant or not but you need to increase the intake of certain nutrients like iron, folic acid, omega 3 and many more. These important nutrients are vital for the development of the baby and of course the mother as well.

Exercise: You doctor may have told you to rest but that doesnt mean you have to sit whole day long. Excessive exercise should be avoided but you can get a regular low impact exercise. You can get guidelines on exercising during pregnancy from your doctor or just surf the net.

Get a flu shot: A flu may be dangerous especially when you are pregnant and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in USA has recommended that all pregnant women should get a flu vaccination at least at their 14th week of pregnancy. But, before getting the flu shot, it is advisable to consult with your doctor first.

Gain weight but not excessive: To gain weight during pregnancy is common but some women do have an elevated risk of obesity. Check out with your doctor how much weight you should gain during pregnancy.

These are some of the things that you can do when you are expecting your baby. Other than that, just relax and wait for the arrival of your little wonder.
