Pregnancy Week 39 And Week 40

By:

Expectant mothers, who are 39 or 40 weeks pregnant, have officially reached the end of the line. Although labor may not have begun, they have experienced one of the longest of lifes journeys. These women are close to their due dates, and are anticipating the arrival of their little one, finally. Many women, who are 39 weeks pregnant, only want to make it to their due date. Unfortunately, only about 10% of women actually give birth on that fated due date. Theres no formula where this is concerned. Your baby will come soon! It must be noted, however, that some pregnancies last longer than expected.

At 39 weeks pregnant, first time moms often experience at least one or two false alarms. They are absolutely certain that this is it. But after a visit to their friendly hospital, they find that its definitely not time. This can be a good sign though, that the time is almost here.

Women, who are at least 39 weeks pregnant, will find that their baby has greatly increased in size. He or she is approximately somewhere near seven pounds. Each babys weight will vary, but most fall into this range. Now, not only is your babys skin color changing, but it is also taking on a much plumper appearance.

A look at your baby now would show that its head and abdomen are nearing the same size. Another important change in this little one, relates to its immune system. Through the help of the placenta, your babys body has started growing its own antibodies. These are going to be crucial not only now, but later on in life.

One thing that women 39 weeks pregnant and 40 weeks pregnant, have is common is their enthusiastic joy about this phase. These women have been through a lot, and nothing would mean more to them than to hold this child theyve carried for so long. These feeling and desires get stronger with each passing day.

At 40 weeks pregnant, a woman will find that her little one may now be somewhere between seven and eight pounds. Some women, however, will deliver babies that are a pound or a few ounces smaller. The only concern is that the baby is developed and healthy. And if the baby is healthy, the weight doesnt matter too much.

Nearly all of the development necessary to deliver a healthy baby has already taken place right in the womb. Your baby has grown and strengthened at an alarming rate, and is just waiting to show the world. Its bones have arranged themselves into the proper positions. Babies are generally born with about 300 bones, some of which will connect with others, since adults have 206 bones.

Waiting may be the most difficult task, next to labor itself. Expecting moms are biting their nails, as they impatiently wait for their little boy or girl to arrive. This is a really good time to not only reflect on all youve experienced, but to make a game plan for after delivery. Making lists of supplies and necessities can take a lot of stress out of the next few weeks.
