Do you remember how much fun mood rings could be? Well, here comes one of the next big fads for something that seems so simple. There are so many uses that you can find for these little things, that you will be hard pressed not to buy them. What are they, you might ask? Mood pencils.

Now, you might be wondering what these pencils could actually be used for. And that is a valid question. They are definitely something that seems like it might be good to just have for a laugh or two, but might not provide any real functionality. But it's sometimes good to be able to predict your mood through these devices. Or perhaps even more useful, to predict the mood of others!

By giving your child one of these pencils, you can help to monitor their mood when they are working on their homework. Are they secretly getting angry and frustrated, because they aren't understanding something? Or maybe depressed. This can also provide teachers who know about these pencils a valuable way of monitoring situations that might otherwise escape their notice in the busy classroom environment. The applications of these pencils are limitless in this respect.

But perhaps you want to use them for something else, other than predicting moods. These pencils work by being coated with a special paint that reacts to change colors when there is a change in temperature. As such, you can use these pencils to test the temperature of many things, such as placing one in the water to judge how hot or cold the bath water is, before letting your child get in. Or you might want to use them as a cheap way of testing to make sure that your refrigerator is cooling relatively evenly. When it comes to potential applications of these pencils, they provide you with a cheap and effective means of solving many temperature related issues. If your pencil seems to be showing that you are hot, you might need to check to see if you have a fever!

When it comes right down to it, though, let's not forget that these are, after all, mood pencils! This is their classic and design function. So while you might find other applications to use them for all around your house and work area, never forget that these pencils are there to provide you with entertainment. These classic items are definitely something for every household.
