Practising With Electric Drum Kits

Imagine if your child has just stated a desire to learn to play the drums possibly the noisiest instrument to have in the house! They are probably dead set on getting to grips with the intricacies of this complex instrument. This is normally the point at which the parents inwardly groan and pray that they change their mind to something a little less anti social! But nonetheless, they are showing a passion to learn music and regardless of their chosen medium, this should be applauded and supported wholeheartedly. Plus it may be a long while before they can wear you both down enough to agree to let them use the garage for their drumming practice!

There is an enormous amount of skill involved in playing an instrument, and playing the drums is no exception. It requires an excellent level of hand eye coordination as well as perfect timing and bags of energy just to get through a three minute song. Becoming proficient at the drums is a long and arduous road for some, others seem to have a simpler journey and perhaps have a natural talent that becomes apparent when they pick up the drumsticks. The naturally talented sometimes do go on to greater things, but that is not to say that those who apply themselves wilfully cannot also reach those dizzy heights.

It is all about dedication and commitment, starting something and keeping at it, no matter how long it takes. This is something that requires time and energy and an enormous amount of discipline, three qualities and luxuries that very rarely offer themselves up all at the same time. When we are young we often lack the discipline, but we often have both the time and energy. As we get older we often pick up the discipline through our working habits, but then lack the energy and time to dedicate to the practice!

A happy medium is often hard to reach and this is why those with a talent are able to reach such heights, as they often dont need to practice as much and so the need for discipline is not as great. The rest of us must simply apply ourselves and stop moaning that it is not fair.

Learning to play the drums doesnt necessarily require you to have access to a set of traditional drums. Rather, you could invest in an electric drum kit that allows for the novice to practice away at unashamedly and without the risk of noise pollution seeping through to the neighbours - as electric kits also have a handy headphone socket. Pop the headphones on and away you go, hours of practice and fun without waking up the neighbours! The electric drum kit is also an affordable alternative to a full drum kit, as these are generally an expensive investment to make. By using the electric drum kit in the early stages one can build up the necessary rhythm and skill to eventually move on from the electric drum kit to the standard set.

Of course, the electric drum kit is always on hand should the need rise for some silent drumming!
