Poster Printing For A Tight Budget

By: Janice Jenkins

If your business has been searching for a new campaigning tool, you may have come across information about the effectiveness of posters. You may have also dismissed the idea as one that cannot fit within the company budget.

As with calendar printing, this is the most common mistake business owners make. They do not realize the value of something that can be an effective tool when it comes to advertising.

Do not give up so easily, though. Below are a few tips for poster printing that will provide high quality results at a low cost.

1. Whenever many people hear the word "posters", they picture the oversized wall hangings seen in the movie theaters. Yet, posters also come in 8.5x11 and 11x17 sizes. You can still design an eye-catching poster using these smaller sizes while avoiding a high price.

2. You may want to try designing the poster yourself. Many printing companies offer free poster templates downloadable in a number of formats. You can also find many resources online for poster designing tips. You will want to be careful, though, if you have never had any designing experience, since you do not want to completely waste your money with a layout that will not successful.

Therefore, you may want to find a freelance graphic design artist, such as a student. Because most students are simply trying to build up their portfolio and make a little bit of extra money, they will spend an extra time on the poster design but at a lower cost a professional designer.

No matter if you create the posters yourself or use an artist, you may need to provide the artwork. If you have some experience in photography and have access to a digital camera, you may want to try taking pictures of your product or the company yourself. Set the camera to the highest resolution so that, when stretched for poster size, your pictures will not be pixilated. You may also want to search for stock photographs online. Many sites offer either royalty free photos or many that cost no more than $1.

The success of a poster campaign greatly depends on the amount of saturation in a region, as it is with any other marketing campaign. With a wholesale printer, the larger the quantity, the cheaper the cost per poster will be. Find a wholesale printing company that will provide full color posters with full bleed and maybe even custom trim if you would like a size in between.

Poster printing does not need to be one of those marketing ideas that you wish you could incorporate but avoid because of potential high costs. Using the tips above, you can turn your small business into one recognized as professional and successful by advertising with posters.
