Port Dickson - Beach Town In West Malaysia

By:

Situated in the state of Negeri Sembilan, on the western coast of Malaysia, lies the beautiful town of Port Dickson. Prided by locals and admired by tourists alike, it is clear that the lapping waters of the Straits of Malacca, the idyllic swaying palms and the eight kilometer stretch of beach are a huge attraction.

Though the beaches that make up the coastline of Port Dickson are many and varied; there are two clear favorites. Teluk Kemang is the first of these, and located on the ninth mile of the coastal road. It is one of the single longest beaches of the region, and plays host to a wide range of water sports.

Equally popular on the tourist trail is The Blue Lagoon, located just eleven miles to the south. A quieter setting, it is ever so slightly off the beaten track so affords a more peaceful setting that many may find more attractive.

The water plays a central role in the region, and was the first location as the worldwide yachting sport came to the shores of Malaysia some years ago. This tradition continues with the immensely well appointed marina, where yachts people of any age and experience are welcomed.

There are many more activities to keep visitors interested however, including many historical and cultural sites. From the museum and fort at the old tin mining village of Lukut, to simply enjoying the breathtaking vistas along the coast; there is something for everyone.

As the evening gathers, there are a large number of excellent restaurants to enjoy. Whether you wish to try local dishes, fusion of East and West, or something a little to closer home; there really is something for everyone.

For younger visitors to the area; perhaps backpacking around Asia, no trip is complete without a night beneath the stars at one of the camps that sprout up in the beach. However, should a more permanent structure be required; there are plenty to choose from.

That isn't to say the choice of which Port Dickson hotel to choose will be easy, far from it, but there are many five star resorts to choose from. All the major global chains have a site here too; so quality is guaranteed whether going with one of these, or from a private beachside bungalow.
