European and Japanese investigative authorities have dubbed the crime cartel "the Pink Panthers" since they use tricks seen in the comedy detective movie "The Pink Panther," which is actually the name of a fabulous diamond. In May last year, two men wearing wigs broke into a central London jewelry store and got away with 47 gems, including yellow diamonds. The jewels were valued at about 23 million pounds (4.6 billion yen), the largest amount ever stolen in a British robbery.Nebojsa Danic, 34, and another man, both from Serbia and Montenegro, received prison sentences at London's Old Bailey criminal court Wednesday.According to Scotland Yard, the international crime cartel the two men belonged to was suspected of involvement in a spate of jewelry heists since about 2002 in six countries--Britain, Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany and Belgium--targeting only expensive diamonds.

The cartel's boss, known as Marco, whose real name is believed be Predrag Vujosevic, 29, from Serbia and Montenegro, was arrested in Paris in May.
There has been a flood of inquiries about Marco from investigative authorities across Europe
