A Fresno County traffic accident took the life of a Los Banos police officer Monday evening, June 20, 2011. As reported in the Los Banos Enterprise, Jesse Freeman, a 32-year-old from Fresno, died when his motorcycle and a pickup truck collided with each other head-on around 5:30 in the evening on Friant Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Freeman, who was not on duty at the time of the accident, was riding his motorcycle northbound on Sky Harbour Drive north of Millerton Road, and a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was headed southbound when the vehicles collided. The force of the accident threw Freeman from his motorcycle. He died at the scene.
A 60-year-old woman from Friant, who was driving the pickup, had minor injuries. The 60-year-old man who was with her, also from Friant, did not suffer injuries.
According to the news story, Freeman is the second public safety employee from Los Banos to die in a traffic accident this month. No other details were available regarding the accident, and investigators will continue their examination.
