Plyometric: Exercises You Can Do At Home

By:

Physical fitness is a truly important attribute to have. A physically fit person can run reasonably fast for a reasonably long distance, be up on their feet for a long time before getting tired, and keep a fast metabolism. Many people would like to be physically fit, but have found excuses over the years to sluff off one of the most important things you can do for yourself.

Many people think that being physically fit means being an Olympic athlete. This is of course not true at all. Being physically fit can come through many forms of exercise. They key, however, is consistency in your routine for many years. Just like trying to read a whole text book in one night before the big test won't save you, the same is true as trying to run a marathon to save your health when you never did anything to be able to accomplish such a feet in the first place.

Often times when putting together a daily routine, people look past the obvious. Plyometric exercise, or exercise using the weight of your own body, is the best and cheapest way to get in to shape. Push ups, sit ups, pull ups, and dips in all their forms can hit just about any muscle group you want to firm up and also get your heart rate going at the same time. Take, for example, the push up. You can do them hands evenly spaced, close together, wide apart, high above your head, and so on. Alternating positions can concentrate on various groups such as shoulders and pecks, abs and back, outer pecks and upper back, etc. Unlike lifting weights, you can do these exercises daily. The general rule of thumb is if you use your own body weight the muscle can heal itself in about 24 hours. Weight lifting on the other hand does require longer periods of time for muscle groups to heal.

After consistently doing the basic core exercises, many people join health clubs or sign up for more intense programs where they can continue to develop muscle tissue and overall strength. Most places offer weight loss in Kansas City and Des Moines as well as fitness programs through private clubs and tax funded recreational centers so that it doesn't have to be expensive to get access to quality health programs. Taking the time to find out what is available wherever you live will in the long run pay for itself over and over again. There isn't a better feeling than feeling healthy and physically fit.
