If you find a big difference, in some cases you might have a leak that you do not know about. When this happens you will have to start checking all of your water lines. If you do not find any problems with any of your lines, then you should get a hold of your local water company.

Ask them to check your last couple of bills and ask them if your water rates went up. By doing this you will let them know that there might be a problem some where down the line. Our water company might not know of any problems unless we tell them. Once they are informed of this problem, they will send out someone to look to see what the problem is and where it is at. If you were to have a drop in water pressure, this could be another sign of a broken pipe. If there is a broken pipe, the city will tell you if the problem is up to them or you to fix.

If this broken pipe is your problem, you will need to find someone to fix it. This would be a licensed plumber or water damage company. You will probably have several companies to pick from, so call them for estimates for this job. You might even want to describe the job that will have to be done so they can quote you a price. The next thing you might want to do is call your homeowners insurance agent to find out if they might help with some of the costs. Plumbing issues can be covered under your policy.

When you go around your home to check your water pipes, if you find any leaks have them fixed right away. If you let them go for to long you will have a bigger mess to fix later on. This will also increase the amount of money it will cost for a company to come in and fix it. Remember an ounce of prevention is a pound of cure. When water issues in the home are left to get worse, they can cause your home to have rotting wood and mold.
