Pleasant Grove Fireworks A Night To Remember

By:

Pleasant Grove Fireworks, an occasion to remember. Not far from Salt Lake City Utah, Pleasant Grove is a little community that can put on quite a fireworks show, we like to be remembered for the high school football team, but this year we will all remember the fireworks display at dusk.

Following a bit of polite, but persistent, inquiries about the what, when and how of the Pleasant Grove City fireworks show by our nine year old child, my wife and I concluded we should take the little children to the big show at the soccer park, I am not a big fan of large crowds, so the poor kid had to stay with his line of questioning until I came around and discovered his desire to see the big fireworks show put on by the city of Pleasant Grove City.

Awesome! Greatest fireworks show I have been to in 3 decades.....We went to the PG fireworks display on Saturday. This was the first time I ever went to the J.R. High to watch the show. I like how they engage the community at the show, they shot off roughly 8 rounds into the crowds down on the soccer fields. It was rather exciting.

When the first rocket shot across the sky just a foot or two over our heads, it got the old heart pumping real good. And before we could recover 6 more rounds fanned out across the crowd, landing in several spots so Every person could feel the excitement. Wow. Then came the big stuff. The first few were just fire streamers, mostly sparks and light....then came one of the star burst into the crowd, red flame, a lot of smoke, shadows and a huge boom with a burst of light. The light appeared to freeze a moment in time. All i could see was scarlet light and the outlines of panic ridden shadows in their feeble effort to move more rapidly than the speed of light to escape the inevitable blazing star burst and concussion.

As the fireworks show in the sky resumed as if nothing happen, the soccer fields sounded like a battle ground with screams of terror from all the kids who in a twinkle, and quite abruptly were done having fun at the big light show. Next, the collective consciousness of everyone who was 15 and older cheered as they discovered what a thrill the last twenty seconds had been. With the sounds of hoards of children crying and parents laughing and gasping, still trying to rap their feelings surrounding the near misses nearly all of us had, your mother and I grabbed the grand baby ( Kennedy), Boyd, Jean and the blanket so we could fall back to a safer place. The baby buried her face in grandmas arms, The nine year old covered up underneath a blanket, and the last kid, went into a never ending course of "can we just go home now....", Not positive if we will ever get them to go to a firework show another time. Later that night the baby just twitched with every distant boom all throughout the night. But I am SOLD, I want to go again next year, but I think we should dig fox holes. This could be the start of a new family tradition, where the city gets the kids jumping instead of the parents.

From what we found out injuries were somewhat minor, unless you were the person with the broken ear drums, who was unfortunate to be in the "kill zone" of the red light. When we were back at the house, we found the Internet was busy with chatter regarding the big event.
