During recent years, limiting the use of disposable plastic bags has been brought to popular attention in China. No one denies that disposable plastic bags have once gained great popularity in our daily life. However, what would our society be like with the excessive use of them?

In the past few years before government put forward the regulation, there has been a sharp growth in using plastic bags, which has given a rise to such a series of problems as more serious environmental pollution. whats worse, some bags are of poor quality, and even harmful to our health.

Awareness of the matter in question is one thing, but how to cope with it is another thing. Since June 1st 2008s, using of disposable plastic bags in supermarkets is limited strictly. People turn to cloth bags and shopping baskets from now on. As a result, people come to raise more awareness of environmental protection and the business cost in supermarkets is cut down as well.

But still plastic bags are difficult to get rid of. On one hand, plastic bags used to be commonly and widely used in everyday life. They are of low prices and easy to be used. With their stable performance, and to a large application now, it seems that they are difficult to be replaced by any other product. On the other hand, in large shopping mall, supermarket chain "the thin" effect is good; and farmers' market in ultra-thin plastic bags can't do real banned. Further, many shoppers have been used to the convenience that the disposable bags once offered them and they find the price of the disposable affordable. In a word, as long as they can not realize the true meaning lying in getting rid of the disposable bags, they can not change their behaviors from the bottom of their heart.
How to change this situation? In my opinion, government should expand the implementation of the plastic bags limit, consider the bookstore, pharmacy. Furthermore, provisions must be used consumer biodegradable bags. At the same time, more public advertisement should be published and more advocating should be carried out so as to awaken peoples sense of protecting the environment. The earth is the only place on which we depend for a survival, and if one day it can not sustain us, the human beings will come to extinction. Only in this way can we limit the use of plastic bags and achieve the sustainable development of our country.
