Phuket Property: No Room For Integrity?

By:

You may be surprised to hear this...

I bought my first house in Phuket, Thailand just over 7 years ago.

Shortly after, I was talking to a well-respected lawyer from a large international law firm about representing my clients.

Do you know what he said to me?

Oh! Youve got integrity. There is no room for integrity in this business.

Personally I dont think he could have been more wrong.

In my humble opinion, his attitude shows there is FAR TOO MUCH room.

What do you think?

Its not just the lawyers either...

One property developer I know is fond of saying; most buyers check-in their brains at the airport.

And it's amazing the tricks some developers try to pull - most are very good salespeople.

But I refuse to play their games. I look after my clients and make sure I get what is right for them.

The developers dont much like that.

The truth is, most agents, developers and lawyers just try to get the deal done - no matter what.

They don't care that you have worked hard all your life and saved for years to buy a second home.

All they care about is your money.

Many will tell you whatever you want to hear. Some will even lie to you to make the sale.

Over the years I've seen far too many people get taken for a ride.

Last week I was talking to a couple who are facing a legal battle to keep their home.

They paid the developer in full. He built their house. And they were very happy with it.

But it turns out he did not have a building permit.

So now they are faced with a demolition order.

Of course, the developer has disappeared.

This couple are in their mid-sixties. They spent their life savings on their dream retirement home.

Now they could lose everything.

The worst thing is, their agent, the developer and their lawyer knew the house didn't have a permit - but their greed meant the sale still went through.

So please...

Make sure you're not the next buyer seduced by the laidback holiday atmosphere.

Buying property in any country is a serious investment.

Keep your brain switched on at all times.

Best,

Rebecca
