Philadelphia Toyota Drivers Get Comfy With At-home Chargers

By:

With electrification of the driving experience practically upon us, the media is drumming up quite a buzz about the EVs set to hit the market this year. Among them are the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf, the first viable electric cars ever offered. Philadelphia Toyota drivers are more excited for the electric version of the Prius, however, which is set to drop on consumers in 2012. The Prius is already a recognized name brand in green driving and amazing fuel efficiency, so were expecting to see a lot of consumers interested in purchasing an electric vehicle wait around for the electric Prius. But Toyota is doing more than just launching an EV in an effort to grab more of that electric market share; the company recently announced plans to sell in-home electric charging stations that are reported to be compatible with other electric cars. That means you wont have to buy a Toyota to buy a Toyota charging station, but the Japanese behemoth is hoping the strategy will draw in more consumers on the electric Prius platform. Woodbury Toyota Camry drivers might find some interest in Toyotas coming EV, so we suggest taking a test-drive when the car drops.

The charging station wont be inexpensive, but it sure will be convenient. In fact, Toyota is looking at a $2,045 price tag, which isnt cheap but it sure is competitive. The compatibility with other EVs reflects the efforts of companies everywhere to sell goods with more openness, drawing in more consumers on the promise of an open platform. According to a recent article in Autoblog, The chargers will reportedly be compatible with other vehicle makes (assuming they use the same plug standards, we'd guess...) and the automaker is expecting to sell between 20,000 and 30,000 in the first year alone. That's a lot of electrification, no? Woodbury Toyota Camry drivers agree: that IS a lot of electrification. As part of the new standard in driving, we hope that all that electrification will help reduce the auto industrys environmental footprint. We also hope that it will help put a little more change back in the pocket of the consumer. While the electric charging station seems like a big upfront investment, the ultimate hope is that it will help cut back on gas costs, eventually pulling us off of the oil standard to reduce our reliance on foreign energy.

Philadelphia Toyota drivers know that the Prius is a great all-around car, so they expect that the electric Prius will reflect some of the things that drivers have come to know and love about the car. You can bet Toyota will put the same care in crafting the new electric Prius that it does in creating all of its Prius models, and Woodbury Toyota Camry drivers are excited to see their brand jumping on the electric standard early. Still, Toyota is focusing efforts on keeping the hybrid alive in case electric driving falls by the wayside, and were confident that whatever Toyota does, theyll do it right.
