Personal Image Advice After Weight Loss.

By:

As someone who offers personal image advice on a daily basis, I am often dealing with women who have little confidence in their bodies. However, lately I have been working with one of the organisations that help people to lose a lot of weight quite quickly. Some of the women have lost around three or four stones, but others have lost up to twelve. So you can imagine, theyre thrilled with their new bodies but usually a little confused as to how to dress their new figures and so need some personal image advice from someone like me.

If you have lost weight recently and feel you need some guidance and personal image advice, here are some tips to help you show off your new figure to its best advantage.

1. Introduce new colours

When women are conscious of their weight, they tend to 'hide' themselves in plenty of black and other dark colours. As you get to your goal weight, start introducing colour into your wardrobe to give yourself a more youthful look. Black can be quite ageing on many complexions and other neutrals such as stone, taupe, pewter and charcoal will be more flattering. Teals, turquoise, aqua and greens are popular this season, as are pinks, purples and reds. Introducing these into your clothing will help you look and feel younger. Keep lighter colours to the slimmest parts of your body and use darker colours to slim any areas which you are still unsure of. To find the shades which really flatter your personal colouring, why not go for a colour analysis.

2. Find your style with an image makeover

An image makeover will allow you to explore the styles available on the high street and find out which will complement your body shape. You may now be able to fit into your ideal size, be it a 16, 14, 12 or 10 but there will be certain styles within that size that wont do anything for you. For example, a shift dress in stiff fabric with a high neckline will not look good on anyone with a full bust and curvy hips, whatever their size. They will be better with a fluid, wrap dress. On the other hand, the shift dress will be perfect for someone with a straighter bodyline and a neater bust. At an image makeover, you will be given positive advice on all the styles and fabrics that will work best with your body.

3. Find your right size

This can be tricky for women that have lost a lot of weight. Occasionally, they try to squeeze themselves into one size smaller than they really now are, making themselves look bigger again. But more often they still wear clothes that are a size or two too big. Try on a few sizes when in the shops to make sure your clothes are neither too big, hiding you fabulous new figure, nor too small, making your figure look bigger than it really is.

4. Get yourself re-measured for underwear

If you have lost weight your bra size will have changed. A loose, ill-fitting bra can be harmful to your posture and will not allow your clothes to hang properly. When correctly fitted you will look taller and slimmer and you will make the most of your new body.

If youve lost weight and deserve a treat, an image makeover and the image advice that comes with it could be the ideal reward for yourself. The personal image advice you receive will keep you motivated to maintain your weight and will ensure that the money you spend on clothes is money well spent!
