A jury in Wyoming conformed that Zoloft, an antidepressant drug, caused a man to kill his wife, daughter and granddaughter before ending his life in June 2001.

In a 2005 action considered to be late by Zoloft victims, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released public health advisories stating that taking antidepressants can provoke suicidal thoughts. The FDA additionally asked the manufacturers to clearly attach explicit label cautions about the antidepressants harmful side effects such as the risk of suicide.
