Paypal Alternatives: What Are The Best?

By:

Since its inception, PayPal has been plagued by a growing list of customer service problems. Hidden fees and other loopholes have made current customers disgruntled and they are putting the word out about what it is really like to use the service. This is causing potential new customers to think twice before signing up. There are other alternative online banking venues that provide excellent service and great customer care.

Moneybookers: This is a company based out of the United Kingdom and has a strong financial backing. It is almost the total package for online banking needs. It allows you to use email as a means of sending and receiving money and takes only minutes to set up. The company has over 3.5 million users around the globe. Moneybookers can be accessed in several different languages and the site is very easily navigated. It allows a customer to use the account for both personal and business transactions. It is also fully approved for use with ebay. Moneybookers charges a fee of one percent to send money and the fee for requesting a check is a bit steep. But all in all it is a great alternative to Paypal.

AlertPay: This service is very new. It was started in 2004 and the growth has been phenomenal. You can use AlertPay for all the things you currently use PayPal, for except it has yet to be allowed onto ebay. You can send and receive money to members and non-members via email. The company is based in Montreal Canada and boasts a global membership. It is free to signup and the fees are reasonable. At this time however, credit cards cannot be used to fund payments although you can receive credit card payments for your goods and services.

Google Checkout: Overall, Google Checkout is the best one to compete with PayPal. This site would take a lot of customers from PayPal if they did not have the monopoly on ebay traffic. This is currently being debated in court and if the outcome is favorable, then you would do well to trust in this service. Google Checkout has a processing charge of 2% and a $.20 transaction fee. If you have an Adsense account, you will not be charged for credit card processing. You are secure with google and since it is a very large company you know they will be around a long time.

PayPay: This site is also one who can give PayPal a run for its money and that is one reason it may not be on ebay now. It allows you to do all the business functions you are accustomed to on PayPal and the fees are comparable. You can open a business or personal account for free and begin using it as soon as you finish the signup, which takes only minutes.

With the exception of not being able to be used on ebay, all of these are great alternatives to Paypal. And with any luck the monopoly they hold on ebay will be forcibly broken by the courts and you will have other alternatives that are indeed the "Total Package".
