Party City, America's largest discount party supplies and Halloween retailer, has opened a new store in Monroe, New York.
The Monroe store opened its doors on September 17, 2010, just prior to Party City's busiest time of the year.
Halloween costume sales account for a major portion of Party City's annual business, and Party City has hired more than 10,000 temporary workers nationwide to serve as customer support representatives, greeters, cashiers, stockers, and in other roles. Many of these workers will be retained beyond the Halloween season.
"The creation of new jobs is critical as the economy continues to recover," said Lisa Laube, President of Party City. "Our efforts to create jobs serve a dual-purpose: To provide people with opportunities to utilize their skills in today's downtrodden job market, and to provide shoppers with exceptional customer service during the busy Halloween season."
Even in a recession, Party City has expanded rapidly in 2010, launching five franchises in the past two months alone. Since September 1, Party City has also placed new stores in Humble TX, Irving TX, Carbondale IL, and Carmel IN. Party City's online division has grown as well, recruiting new staff to a number of positions and broadening the product reach and functionality of PartyCity.com.
