The new fuel economy standards may be a pain for auto makers, but they might just benefit consumers if BMW and other manufacturers keep following the trend of more power and less usage. The engine in this little jewel will have 240 horsepower and will get that power from direct injection and turbocharging. We dont know the mileage numbers yet, but expect them to be higher than the larger engines. A win for everyone, dont you think?
BMW isnt saying yet what other models will get the four-cylinder switch-up, but you can bet there will be more. This trend isnt going away and true car lovers wont sacrifice their power without a fight.
For customers of the Palo Alto BMW dealership, this change will be positive in that prices may reflect the smaller engine, and the price of driving will certainly be less. BMW was aware of the disappointment buyers had over its last run of four-cylinder engines and that engine was phased out in 1999. But its back, even badder and faster than ever.
