Packing Guidelines For Courier Shipments

By:

Whenever you are sending any kind of a package anywhere with a delivery company of any kind, it is very important that you ensure that your delivery is packaged correctly. Although any Boston messenger service is likely going to be very careful about any package which you ship with them, it is a simple fact that all kinds of things can and do go wrong when shipping goods.

Traffic accidents and weather are two of the leading causes of damage being caused to packages which are sent with courier companies, but if your item is packaged correctly, and then you should be able to minimize the amount of damage which your item sustains in the event of one of the aforementioned events taking place.

In the case of a traffic accident, it is going to become very important that you have packaged all goods securely so that anything breakable is protected from becoming damaged if dropped or handled roughly.

Most accidents which are mild enough in which damage can be prevented by packaging will only result in your package being tumbled around somewhat, so as long as you have adequately wrapped and protected your item, using standard packing materials like bubble wrap and Styrofoam kernels, then your delivery should escape unharmed.

It is also the case that many packages become exposed to rain when being moved from warehouse to vehicle and vice versa, and that anything which can be damaged by water needs to be protected from the elements by being sealed in plastic or some other material which will protect it in the event that the package gets wet.

Another reason to always be sure and package your item correctly is that it protects you and helps to ensure your coverage in the event that you do have to make an insurance claim. Most courier and delivery companies make it very clear in their initial terms of service that you are responsible for ensuring that your items are packed correctly.

In many cases where damage is sustained, you will have to present the original packaging in order for the insurance company to assess how it was packed originally. It is more than a possibility that you could be found at fault if you did not pack your item correctly to be protected in the event of an accident, and therefore not be covered by the insurance policy on your delivery.
