Owning Your Words - Directive Communication

By:

Just as you take a stand by developing your brand, you are also taking a stand with the words you use and the way in which you communicate to others. Think about your brand. You want your brand -"you"to be perceived as honest, genuine and authentic. You want the message of your brand and its stand to be clear, concise and direct.

It should come as no surprise then, that your words, your messages, your internet marketing platform and your methods of communication should mirror these traits. If they do, you can own your words and do so with pride and confidence.

To Own Your Words...

Be genuine while being persuasive. This is simple when you believe your own words. When you speak genuinely, or from the heart, you can't avoid being persuasive. By sharing what you believe in with others you can naturally convince them that you believe it, that you mean it and that they should get behind it as well.

You communicate your words in many ways while being the entrepreneur behind your home-based business. Through your marketing platform and direct communication with potential clients.

Carbon Copy Pro is using directive communication when it comes to their "Millionaires on a Mission" goal. The desire for the organization to develop 100 millionaires by 2012, and the words chosen to convey the goal, is clear, specific and transparent. Adopt this same approach in your mission to communicate and own your words.

Being Clear, Specific and Transparent

Get to the point! When you share your information and views with those whom you come into contact with choose your words carefully. Imagine how you would feel or respond to hearing your message if it were coming from someone else.

Would the message be clear? Would it be specific? Would it be transparent so that you would be left with a message you could truly understand? If not, it just means you may need to tweak things a bit to clarify your communication.

Another Few Words About Your Words

Being genuine, as well as clear, specific and transparent, also means using directive communication skills. Be authoritative, firm and knowledgeable. Authoritative and firm doesn't mean talking down to someone; it simply means standing behind your own words strongly. Being firm or authoritative should help to express that you believe what you are saying so strongly you are taking a firm stance on the matter. That is where being knowledgeable helps. If you are full of the right information about the topic it is easy to use directive communication.

Get rich ...That's clear, specific and transparent, as well as what we want you to accomplish. Commit. Take action. Live your dream. These are also concepts that get to the point. Own your words while you play your best game.
