Overworked Mom Deserves A Trip To A Spa In Boston

By:

My husband and I just arrived at my parents' house a few days ago. We're staying here for a short vacation over the holidays. The holiday season is especially exciting in our family because my birthday is Christmas Eve, and my mom's birthday is the day before mine. When the whole family gets together, winter vacation, from beginning to end, turns into one giant party.Yesterday my husband and I went shopping trying to find the perfect birthday gift for my mom, after a lot of searching we chose a few gifts that we thought my mom would enjoy, but upon returning home I realized that there was something else that my mom needed and would have enjoyed a lot more than what we purchased. What my mom really needs is a trip to a spa in Boston.

The reason that this idea was so intensely pressed upon my mind when we returned home was because anytime you enter my mom's house between six thirty in the morning and five thirty in the evening, you are bombarded with the sounds of squealing, laughing, screaming, and crying children. My mom has a noble soul. She does something for a living that most people wouldn't be able to handle. Even though I enjoy coming to visit my parents when I'm on vacation, I have to make sure that I go on a few outings each day so that the organized chaos inside her home doesn't drive me insane.

Mom has been running her in home daycare for over twenty years. She is amazing with children, and has touched countless lives. For the most part the children in her care are very well behaved, but anytime that you have five to ten kids playing in one house, things are going to get really loud and at least a little bit crazy.I teach junior high school and people have a tendency to think that I'm a little crazy dealing with kids of that age group. Honestly, after about five minutes in my mom's home, I'm ready to run back to my classroom as fast as my little legs can carry me.

I guess I can only hope that my dad or one of my other siblings got my mom a pass for a spa in Boston, because the only comfort she is going to get from our gift is the comfort of a much faster and more efficient cheese grater than she has ever owned before.
