Overview Of The Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 Paper Folding Machine

If you're looking for a paper folding machine for your business or organization, and are on a budget, you have probably come across the Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 paper folding machine from ABCOffice.com. Can a paper folder that is this inexpensive be any good? I have set up and used this machine and am including my own review in this article.

Just to give you a little background on Martin Yale, they have been around for decades and are well known for manufacturing a wide range of paper folding machines. Some of their most popular models include the CV7 (1501x) and the 1217. The P7200 is relatively new, being a little over 5 years old. While Martin Yale machines aren't considered to be the best out there, they are considered to be solid and reliable machines.

The P7200 is considered to be an entry-level folding machine. This means it can be used to fold a few hundred sheets a day, but is by no means meant for heavy-volume folding of thousands of sheets of paper. It is great for short runs of folding throughout the week. I have found that most people that are disappointed with this machine buy it wanting it to do what a machine that costs thousands of dollars can do.

This letter folding machine uses folding plates to assist in the folding process. This means that the P7200 can be used to create a variety of custom folds. It can also be used to create letter folds, accordion folds, double parallel and half folds. This versatility is great if you are folding paper for letters, brochures, pamphlets and more. The folding plates are very easy to adjust and folds are clearly marked.

The feed tray on this machine can hold up to 50 sheets of paper. That means you can drop in 50 sheets of paper, set the fold, turn on the machine and let the P7200 do the rest. It is fast, with a motor that runs at a speed of 4,000 sheets per hour. It also has a decent paper thickness capacity, ranging from paper as thin as 16# up to 28#. It can handle paper sheet sizes up to 8 1/2" x 11".

At only 20 pounds shipped, this machine is by no means heavy. It can easily be picked up and moved around from one place to another. This makes it a great office or desktop folding machine. It measures in at 14" x 21.5" x 9.25".

While this paper folder is great for continuous paper folding (50 sheet tray), it also has a bypass slot on the top of the machine. This allows the operator to manually insert 1-3 sheets of paper for multi-sheet paper folding. Remember, feeding isn't automatic. You have to manually insert the paper into the slot.

Because the Rapidfold P7200 is a friction-feed machine, it does not work well with slick, glossy or coated paper. This is because the friction components of this machine will slip on the glossy surface, resulting in a paper jam.

Aesthetically, this machine looks great. It blends in nicely with an office. Putting the machine together out of the box isn't too difficult either. My biggest complaint about the P7200 is the exit tray. It is designed to hang off the edge of a desk. While this isn't a big deal for everyone, it can get bumped as people walk by or snagged on clothing as people brush by the desk. I wish it came with a stand so you could put it anywhere on a desk.

In conclusion, I personally recommend this folding machine for entry-level office folding. It is easy to use, and as long as it is treated properly, it is reliable. It also doesn't look half bad either. You will find the Martin Yale Rapidfold P7200 at ABCOffice.com.
