Overview Of The Martin Yale P7400 Autofolder Folding Machine

The Martin Yale P7400 AutoFolder paper folding machine is a nice entry-level option for both legal and letter-size paper folding operations. It is both compact and affordable. Having personally unboxed, setup and used this machine, I would like to share a few of my thoughts with you regarding this paper folder. This is my review.

The Martin Yale P7400 ins an entry-level paper folding machine that is commonly found in schools, churches and business offices around the United States. It is popular because it is affordable and capable of creating the folds that people need most.

A series of 2 folding plats allow the operator to create single folds (aka half or V folds), letter folds (aka C folds), Z folds (aka accordion folds) and double parallel folds. Adjusting the feed trays literally takes just seconds to complete. Folds are clearly laid out and marked on the folding plates. Because these plates are completely manually adjusted, the can also be adjusted and tweaked for custom folds as well.

Using this paper folding machine is easy. Once the fold has been set up on the folding plates, insert paper into the feed tray. The feed tray has a 50 sheet capacity. Once the paper is in place, the machine can be turned on. It is that easy. As paper is folded, it is ejected out the other side of the machine into a catch tray.

The P7400 features a manual bypass slot on the top of the machine, just in front of the feed tray. This slot allows the operator to manually insert up to 3 stapled sheets of paper at a time for multi-sheet folding. This is a nice feature to have on hand when mailing out invoices, letters and other material. Few folding machines in this price range offer multi-sheet folding capabilities.

This paper folder is what's known as a friction-feed folding machine. That means rubber and silicon wheels are used to pull in paper and move it throughout the machine. Because of this friction system, the P7400 AutoFolder does not work well with glossy or coated paper. This is because the slick surface will slide on the friction rollers, often resulting in a paper jam.

The P7400 can handle paper ranging from 3 1/2" x 5" all the way up to 8 1/2" x 14" legal-size paper. It can handle paper ranging in thickness from 16# up to 28#. This is ideal for most standard office paper.

This machine weighs in at 23 pounds shipped and measures in at 20" x 13" x 10". This is compact enough to work in most office enviroments. Picking the machine up and moving it around shouldn't be difficult for an individual person. Keep in mind that the P7400 has to sit on the edge of a desk as the feed tray is designed to hang over the edge. This means you should keep the exit tray out of the way of high-traffic lanes in the office.

Overall, this is a great legal-size folding machine for use in the office. It is affordable and has a reliable build quality. You will find the Martin Yale P7400 folding machine at ABCOffice.com.
