Overcoming Procrastinating With a Little Help From Your Goals

By: Christopher Stigson

It's human nature to want to do things at a later time. Humans have virtually perfected the art of procrastination and now more than ever people need immediate help with it. Why else would there be a whole library full or overcoming procrastination books and tapes? With all of the books and ebooks coming out on a monthly basis you can easily fill up a whole persons shelf with just those.

The best and simplest way to end procrastination today is having a good reason why you want to end it. There has to be a reward or an equal or greater loss. You may soon discover that having a good goal will definitely help when you want to end procrastination becasuse it allows you to have something to move towards.

And does a person set about creating or defining a well defined goal? This can be accomplished once they are clear about the whole process. By simply knowing what you are doing you'll immediately increase the chances of having strong feelings of commitment which is what you need in order to motivate yourself and keep up with the goal.

Figuring out what a person really wants often begins with figuring out what they do not want. Most people who ask themselves the question "What do I really want?" can only answer it with things they do not want, thus creating a negative association with want. That is why the answers to the "What I want" question can usually be derived by flipping the answers around when the negatives surface.

There are also software that allows you to ask a question to it and it gives you back answers which shows you basically what you want in life and it's aimed at getting these questions answered.

Among the various other tools and techniques for time management and especially for stopping procrastination, goal setting is an important part of the whole. And being an important part, education on how to set goals effectively must be foremost on anyone's mind.

  • Walking the Tightrope: Balancing Your Home Life and Life as a Realtor By: Marci McFarland - "Oh, wow, you get to work on a flexible schedule? That's so COOL!" Usually, any Realtor who hears this manages to dredge up a ghastly smile from somewhere as they agree that, yes, it is nice to be able to buy your quadruple-espresso-with-an-added-shot-of-caffeine at any time during the day instead of being cruelly confined to the lunch hour. However, they may add, it also means that you can get swamped by work when your friends are gaily preparing for the bar after their jobs end at 5 PM.
  • The Powerful Difference Between Balance and Harmony By: Travis the "rich kidd" - Three balanced meals a day......Balancing your schedule.....Balance work and play......Balance your priorities and your time...... Balance seems to be a major goal in modern life. Balancing what we want to do and what we need to do. Balancing what we need to eat and what sounds good at the time. When you are balancing something (like standing on one foot), are you stable, secure, and making any progress? Probably not, balance is a state of stagnation, a state of maintaining what already is. That is the weakness that I find in the attempt to balance ones life.
  • Great Tips to Help You Rise Earlier By: Jenna Mello - Who wouldn't want to rise up early and watch the sun rise? Sadly, this is not the priority of others. These people are missing out on a lot of benefits that they can get by getting up earlier. Getting up several hours ahead of office hours or school provides you more time to gear up or compose yourself. This well-earned time can be utilized by exercising and going to the gym, which I think would be best done early morning.

Yet most procrastinators take action, just not in the area they procrastinate in. To help change your life, get new results, and gain the most value from your day implement the five practical tips below, and end the day with no regrets. 1- Get Your Head in the Game- The mind, an astonishing asset, can be the greatest obstacle. Become acutely aware of your perceptions, thought patterns, and self-talk, and whether they are supporting or stopping you. Here is what you might find and how to shift: • Fear- Stay present.
  • Academic Users Need Packet Sniffer Software. By: Roberto Bell - A packet sniffer (also known as a network sniffer, network analyzer or protocol analyzer or, for particular types of networks, an Ethernet sniffer or wireless sniffer) is computer software or computer hardware that can intercept and log traffic passing over a digital network or part of a network. As data streams flow across the network, the sniffer captures each packet and eventually decodes and analyzes its content according to the appropriate RFC or other specifications.
  • Different views on Time Management By: kamaldeep - Most people think of time management as a system for organizing the day or week in order to maximize efficiency. I'd like to propose a different view of time management that is complimentary to the traditional view but has far greater implications for your quality of life. Rather than viewing time on the small scale of a day or a week or a month or even a year let's think of how effective your time has been over a lifetime. There are 8,766 hours in an average year.
  • How plastic containers solved my moving day blues By: Roberto Bell - Moving day was rapidly approaching. My girlfriend and I had found the most amazing flat which had the dual benefit of being close enough to both our new jobs to eliminate transport and sporting the modern aesthetics’ we both craved. It took months of wrangling to optout of our original leases, yet once that problem was out of the way it appeared that it would be smooth sailing from one place to another. All we needed were the necessary plastic containers to pack our valuables into.
  • Time Management - Create More Time Every Day By: Darren.Bourke - Time - the most precious of resources. It can not be increased nor recreated when lost. A finite resource that is delivered in equal installments of 24 hours each day. Given time is a fixed commodity; we must improve at getting more done in less time. So.... what can you do differently tomorrow to manage your time better? Let's start with you. As Jerry Seinfeld famously put it "The morning guy doesn't like the night guy" referring to what he is like in the morning after staying up late.
  • Storage containers make life easy By: Roberto Bell - In my line of work, there’s no time for messing around. The work comes quick and if you aren’t careful, it’ll smack you, right in the face. I’m a docks foreman; and transport, storage and safety are my business. All it takes is one mistake, just one and you’re history. I’ve seen many accidents in my time and I can put it down to misbehavior and mischief. This is why I preach the usage of adequate storage containers. Everything has its place in life; at the home, in the office and on site.
