Organizations Need Corporate Coaches For Their Top Players

By:

Hiring professional coaches with corporate coach training, or having a manager with coach training, is becoming more and more important to corporations and businesses these days. According to the 2010 Sherpa report, there are four primary reasons for this.

First, when there is a turnover in senior management it can leave a hole in leadership which adversely affects company projects, resources, and profits as the new leader and their team sorts out their roles and relationships. As team roles and relationships are central to team functionality it is important to develop these relations as quickly as possible. A corporate coach not only helps speed the process of developing these new relations - thus forming a strong, efficient team more quickly - but also provides leadership development for the new hire or promoted executive, by helping them develop their skills in the new environment.

Second, emerging leaders are needed to be strong in several areas: listening, communicating, delivering clear expectations, and making accountability a positive force in the workplace, all while learning their new job and forging new relationships. This can be a daunting and sometimes overwhelming task, and often new executives lose focus on their company objectives because of all the things on their plates. Corporate coach training is invaluable in aiding the new executive to manage all these areas, especially targeting communication to be effective and efficient.

Third, corporate coach training has also been proven to create positive organizational change in a relatively short period of time. This is because leaders are getting personalized focus from their executive coach thus receiving personalized attention on their own immediate growth and change goals. And since changes in executive behavior have a trickle-down effect - eventually reaching throughout the entire organization - the role modeling that goes on at the executive level effects the entire company. Thus having professional coach training for executives influences the behaviors, expectations, and results of the business and has a positive impact on the bottom line.

Finally, having corporate coach training has now become a part of company succession planning. Often, corporate coach training programs are attached to the planning process so an organization has a steady stream of leaders who are constantly being groomed for higher positions. This makes succession planning a robust and powerful tool for providing well qualified candidates from within the company for open positions.

A candidate with corporate coach training increases the bottom line for whichever firm they may choose to work for.
