IRCTC also gives the privilege of rail reservation through mobiles using Speech recognition, GPRS and CDMA modern technique available on several mobile Operators. IRCTC also initiated the easiest way to reserve your Railway ticket using just two SMS or e-mailing.

The Procedure to Book Tickets using SMS
In order to reseve rail tickets using SMS, the following things are a necessity:

1.The user requires to be enlisted or recorder with IRCTC and choose to use the mobile booking facilities.

2.User should have formed at least one Passenger List in his name recorded with IRCTC. This record will be utilized for the SMS reservation procedure.

3.The traveler has to be enlisted for the Mobile Banking services of ICICI Bank or any other bank which is associated with it.

4.It is compulsory for the user to have a mobile link or connectionwith any one of the operators like Reliance, Airtel, Indicom, Idea, Vodafone ,BSNL and others and very soon the list of more operators would be added to the list .

5.The entire process of ticket reservation can be done by simply sending two messages across using IRCTCs short code 7425

How to Register?

You need to register yourself with IRCTC in order to utilize this facility. The User has to choose the mobile reservation choice in the profile or already listed page to benefit from all different types of Mobile reservation facilities including SMS booking. The person who wants the ticket requires to put in his mobile number, mobile operator, and the mode of payment. Currently only ICICI Bank is providing you with this facility. ICICI Bank will be putting in a small charge of Rs 10 for this facility for every booking. You will need to be recorded or listed to the Mobile Shopping facility offered by ICICI Bank and enter the mShop Name through SMS.

The users who are already recorded with IRCTC can use their current user id and the password to log in and require to do the transactions through Hutch , Idea, Tata Indicom , Reliance handsets.

The people who happen to use this facility for the first time can avail the registration facility provided by the mobile machinists or visit irctc and use the usual or regular registration form. Getting the reservation done was never so convenient as it is in the current time.
