Online Games: Your Daily Quick Brain Workout

Out of the games played online by casual gamers, very few get as much attention as the puzzle games. These games are played on a regular basis the world over, partly because they are so easy to play when you have limited time. The other major factor is that they are so addictive.

What really makes it interesting is that you can learn how to play the game in no time, but to master it and hit those high-scores is a whole different story. There are also quite a number of different varieties of these games that you will find.

The idea of all of them stays the same, but the variations really keep it interesting. Basically you would need to line up 3 of the same character or tiles and then you can remove them. Some games would be as simple as that, while others would have some extra features built in.

The ones with the extra features range from power-ups where you can blow up large amounts at a time, through to getting huge groups of similar tiles together and getting huge points.

The game that I like best is Crash down. It works on the very basic concept of getting 3 tiles in a row, clicking on them and destroying them. There will be new tiles added to the bottom constantly and the will push up everything above it and you must stop it before it hits the top.

When I first started playing Crash down I concentrated on removing groups of tiles as quickly as possible. I was able to clear stages very quickly and thought I was doing really well. When it was game over, I saw that I had a useless score. I tried again and the same thing happened.

So came the need for a change of playing tactics. I tried removing just certain colours and leaving one colour so as to build up huge collections of tiles. Then one click later, I had accumulated a score 3 times as high as my other attempts. This was after one level compared to sweating through a dozen or so levels.

The result of my really scientific exploration of these types of gamers were that there is always some little trick involved. Finding out what that piece of the particular puzzle game is, accounts for much of the fun.
