Oneness Can Be Experienced In Life Each Day

The teachings about the oneness of all beings are said to be the deepest spiritual one in this world. And since the oneness is referring to all things, this teaching is the basic factor of everything. Pointing to how each thing or being is connected to and a part of each other, this is the teachings of the ancient eastern traditions of Advaita or Nonduality.

The common and frequent question of the people is, "If it is all one thing, why don't I experience it that way?" In this case, the oneness is confused as the appearance of sameness. To explain it, everything appears to be different but not separate. Just like our hands, every finger looks different from the other, but they are connected and not separated, functioning as one hand. Likewise, every object, animal, plant, and people in this world appears different in nature and functions, but since they all come from one source, they are believed to be as one. We may experience each of these objects in different ways but they only signify one being.

As cited as an example above, the hands consist of the fingers which are made up of the same tissues, cells, atoms, subatomic particles, and all other substances. This is just the same when you experience certain reality in life that you will discover how all those different facts is a part of one entire reality.

This oneness can also be realized and uncover with the experiences we have right now. The ordinary events in our life are just a part of the oneness or nonduality or "Advaita". If you will be open to understand and uncover the fact that those little things in your life lead to the oneness of being of the entire universe. Little by little, drop by drop, this is how you can fully understand the whole thing. Just as how a little drop of water completing a pail of water. Experiencing oneness in your everyday life can be this simple.

To further observe this teaching, look at the palm of your hand and your fingers how they are being connected. You would probably be able to say where one starts and the other ends, or you can say they are one thing. Can you tell where your hand stop and the forearm begin? Have you notice the oneness of your hand and your forearm? If your hands, fingers, and forearms are not separate, then, the other parts of your body also are not separate. What about your feet and ears? Are they really one even if there is a difference in them? And now that you are trying to figure these things out, you may want to notice if your thoughts and your head are separated from each other. Can you tell the beginning and the end of your thoughts and head? The same goes with your feelings or desires. Is your body separate from you as a person?

This is also true with your senses. What you see, what you hear, what you touch, and what you feel start and ends with one thing. You may see them as different thing and different purpose but when you understand how they are connected to each other, you would realize that they are one because they become one in function and body.

Notice the sound and hearing. Can you say where the source of the sound start and stop? When you hear a bird singing outside your window, can you say where the bird stops and the sound of its song begins? Perhaps you realized now that they are one thing. Now that you say that the song and the bird are one thing, then you as the hearer of the song and the audience of the bird could also be one thing with the bird.

The ultimate truth of "Advaita" or oneness of being, has often been thought of as something hidden or difficult to experience, when it is quite ordinary and available in every moment. Nondual consciousness is the natural state. Of course, a dramatic or big experience of spiritual oneness is a rare event. But why wait for something so rare when this sweet and satisfying oneness is also available right here, right now in ordinary experiences?
