Oh No, Been Victimized By An Online Scam?

By:

Unfortunately, if you are reading this you have been a victim of an online scam or fraud. I know you have probably taken all the right precautions only to be conned out of your hard earned money. True, there are all kinds of anti-virus programs out there that will monitor your system and help protect you on the Internet. However, when you are a victim of an online crime you can feel helpless. In this article I am going to discuss some things that will be able to put your mind at ease.

First, if you have been a victim of a crime it should be reported, so that everyone knows. Do not be ashamed that you feel victim to a scam no matter how big or small it was. It could be anything from identity theft, stalking, or unauthorized transactions, ect. You are probably wondering do I call the police? Maybe, you should contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or the FBI.

Just a little tidbit on the FBI. Most crimes that happen online are not reported to the FBI which allows crooks to keep cheating people out of their money. You should contact them and they have a special devision that specializes in online crime. The National While Collar Crime Center has been established to help keep your online safety secure. The (ICC) Internet Crime Complaint Center has been taking complaints for the past decade. Bear in mind that they do receive 20,000 customer complaints each and every month.

I know you might be thinking then what is the point to reporting online scams to anyone if there is a chance that no one is going to get to it for about 3-5 months. Think of it this way, if you have lost a lot of money and you do go forth with reporting the scam to the authority you could potentially save thousands of people. Even if you only save one person, that person will never have to go through what you went through.

Believe me, I know it is a terrible feeling to fall victim to a online scam. I to was a victim of a scam when starting out my business, and since then I have gotten their fraud site shut down. No one will ever have to deal with the mess I had to deal with. That is a good feeling. The bottom line is make sure you are reporting scams because it can really help a lot of people.
