Salem Saleh the head of tourism authority for Sharm El Sheikh has divulged that the number of people staying in hotels in the area has risen since the start of August.

Hotel occupancy levels have climbed to 58% even though the Arab and Egyptian tourists have mainly left Sharm El Sheikh since the beginning of Ramadan.

Sharm el-Sheikh's warm climate and beautiful beaches continues to attract a growing number of Russian, British and Italian tourists during the peak holiday season.

Sharm el Sheikh is a very attractive and popular destination for British holiday makers in particular and this has been reinforced by budget airline, Monarch's decision to extend the amount of flights to the country this winter.

With its year-round warm climate, Egypt appeals to a broad range of people as it has a variety of land-based leisure activities which continue to pull in many people year on year. Sharm El Sheikh in particiular offers leisure activities such as scuba diving, horse and camel riding, historical attractions and desert safaris and there are variety of clubs, casinos, restaurants and bars to enjoy at night.

Earlier this year tourism officials had worried about a drop in the amount of tourists to Egypt since January's revolution, which overthrew former President Hosni Mubarak. However Sharm el-Sheikh's head of the Tourism Authority has said that the number of tourists and hotel occupancy rates will continue to rise as Sinai becomes more stable.

Hotel and property investments in Sharm el-Sheikh have also attracted a number of investors because of their strong rental income and continual high occupancy levels.

Visitor arrivals to Egypt continue to foster with more than 7 million tourists to date in 2010 and 15 millions predictable in total by December. The majority of visitors originate from Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Russia with the latter showing a 95% foster in Q1 2010. Such sustained growth is fuelling promote demand for quality accommodation in prime tourism hotspots across Egypt.
