Obesity Issues And Weight Problems

By:

Because of a variety of technological developments, food production has become more efficient. Every year, dozens of new food companies emerge. But despite the number of companies already selling and producing the same type of food, these new companies still prosper. There seems to be no decrease in consumer demand regardless of how saturated the food industry seems to be. Many consumers have simply been consuming more as the supply of food increases.

As a result, another trend has emerged in first-world countries: a trend of weight problems and obesity issues. The excessive consumption of food is a major cause of these weight issues. But it is not the sole cause. Below are other common causes of these weight issues:

1.Drinking Alcohol
Contrary to popular belief, some obesity issues are not caused by an excessive intake of food. Drinking alcohol can also cause weight problems. According to scientific studies, consuming large amounts of alcohol impedes a persons digestion. Apart from that, many alcoholic beverages have almost the same amount of calories as a single meal! Drinking four bottles of beer is like having dinner twice. A third reason why alcohol promotes weight-gain is that it lowers your inhibitions making you less concerned about your health.

2.Laziness
One of the most devastating modern trends that have caused a lot of people weight problems is the couch-potato culture. People have become so spoiled by recent technological trends that allow them to do everything from their couch. People can communicate with family and friends from their couch, entertain themselves with video games and TV shows while on their couch, and even go shopping from their couch. Avoid having to deal with obesity issues by being less lazy. If you want to go shopping, go to a mall. If you want to talk to your friends, walk to a coffee shop and meet them there. If you want to see a movie, go to a theatre. Many weight issues can be prevented by simply finding the initiative to leave the house more often.

3.Stress
Different people have different means to deal with daily stress. Some people exercise, some people meditate and some people eat. These are all normal stress-dealing patterns. However, weight problems may occur for people who eat to relieve stress, especially when the level of stress increases. Another reason stress can cause obesity issues is because people who are stressed experience a type of exhaustion that discourages them from exercising or engaging in physical activities. If you want to avoid weight-gain, try to find healthy means of dealing with stress.

4.A Change in Work Pattern
This may come as a surprise, but one cause of sudden weight gain is changing jobs. If you transferred to a job that required less physical effort than the one you had before and youve maintained your food intake, you might encounter weight problems. This happens often when a person who used to commute to work suddenly finds an opportunity to work across the street or at home. Hed still be eating the same amount of food, but hell be burning less energy. If left unchecked, this weight gain could lead to obesity issues. If you find yourself in this situation, you should either reduce your food intake, or find time to work out and burn some of those extra calories.

5.Changing Exercise Routines
Weight problems may also emerge from exercising, especially if your exercise schedule is erratic. Think of the body as an automated system. When you routinely spend a lot of energy, the body adapts and tries to manage your energy based on your food intake. Going from exercising every day to not exercising at all might suddenly cause you to gain weight. Your body would have created a reservoir of energy, expecting you to use it. If you dont use it, it will be stored in your body as fat.

The most recent statistics show that over 30% of American adults are afflicted with obesity issues and weight problems. Even with all the information online regarding this problem, and even with all the diet products available on the market, the percentage number of obese adults continues to increase. The lifestyle that has evolved due to the privileges afforded by new technology lends itself vulnerable to weight issues. Unless drastic changes are made, the health and well-being of the American people will continue to deteriorate.
