There are so many scholarships available today to assist moms who want to go back to school. It can be confusing and overwhelming looking at the blank applications and wondering what to put, and how to stand out.

Each scholarship for moms application will have specific information required. As the requirements are different depending upon which scholarship you are applying for, you have to focus on what is asked and tailor your answers accordingly.

OK, so how do you even find a scholarship?

1.Online (there are innumerable scholarships at your fingertips)

2.At the college or university you want to attend.

3.Specific corporations and organizations

That is the easy part! Depending upon your educational goals, scholarships are readily available!

The tricky part comes in when you actually start filling out the applications. Let's break down the process step by step for you:

READ EVERYTHING! This is so important! You need to read the entire application and accompanying information. Did you know that the main reason people don't get the scholarships they applied for is because they didn't fill out the application based upon the stated requirements? It's true! Don't make this mistake! Read and have a good understanding of what the scholarship requirements are before you even begin to fill out the application! Then take your time and follow the guidelines!

Watch the word limits! Most applications will give you a specific word limit for the essay portions. It is simply amazing how many people disregard this guideline! This screams that you cannot follow directions and will severely lower your chances of being awarded the scholarship! Stay within the word limits!!

Leave nothing blank! Make sure to answer every question to the best of your ability. Leaving questions blank shows a lack of interest, a lack of attention to detail and will also decrease your chances of getting the scholarship!

Review Review Review! Take the extra time to read over your application a few times before submitting it! You do this to make sure there are no errors, but also to guarantee that you answered every question and geared your answers toward the requirements of the scholarship! It's very easy to make mistakes or to be too generic when you are filling out one application after the next in an effort to get a scholarship!

Having given those tips, allow me to give you one more! There are literally thousands of scholarships that do not have such specific requirements! These are more like raffles if you will. You simply register and a winner is chosen to receive the money! I highly suggest you register for as many of these scholarships as possible! I know people who have completed 4 year degrees using nothing but general scholarships! They are definitely worth your time!
