Obama Wants All American Mothers Going Back To College - 2009 Plan With $10,000 In Grants

In the United States of America, many of the moms are not cared about the scholarship opportunities available to them. Recently, President Obama has implemented stimulus package and mom's scholarships has increased considerably. The grants are non refundable with advantage of tax credit also. The grants are usually provided to the undergraduate study in accredited school or college.

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG):-

This grant is awarded to full time undergraduate students. To be eligible, one must be a US citizen or an eligible non US citizen. The selection process for award of this grant is tough because only those who need significant financial assistance as determined through their application are provided this grant. The applicants need to submit an application known as Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).If the application has been submitted for the Pell Grant, there is no need of submitting another application for the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG).

The grant money may go up to a maximum of $4000 per year but may vary depending on the financial requirement of the applicant. The federal government provides 75% of the grant money and the rest is born by the school where the student is studying. The deciding factor for award of this grant is the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Number and therefore only those with lowest number are chosen for the award of grant. It is better to keep in mind the following useful tips while preparing for the grant.

1. If there is too much personal income from stocks or bond investmens, these may be temporarily transferred to the grand parents till the duration of the course.
2. To reduce the bank balance, make all big purchases before filling out FAFSA application
3. Retirement plan amount may be maximized to reduce current savings.
4. There is an increase in grant money if the number of members from the same house is more than one.
