Obama Offers Scholarships For Moms - The Application Process

By:

You have decided to take control of your future and go back to school! Good for you! There couldn't be a better time to take this step! There are literally thousands of scholarships for moms out there that will pay for your education, making the financial part of the equation a no brainer!

You can find just about any scholarship you want online. There are millions of people in school right now thanks to scholarship monies. You can certainly be one of them sooner than you think! The hardest part of the process is looking at that application and wondering how to best complete it. Here are some tips to give you the edge you need!

Weaknesses - Do I really list them all? Just like during a job interview, some scholarship applications will ask you about your weaknesses. The best idea here is to be honest, but put a positive spin on them. You don't want to come across as having low self esteem or low self confidence! For example you could say in the past you struggled with time management, but have developed a monthly calendar with alerts to assist you with staying on track. Hence, you listed a weakness and showed how you have or are overcoming it. Sounds much better than saying you are bad at time management doesn't it?

Stay Focused! Too many times people use the essay portions of the scholarship applications to ramble on and talk about things that really do not apply to the scholarship! This is where reading all the guidelines and requirements for the specific scholarship really give you an edge! Focus your essay answers to the requirements. Be specific, but not wordy! Remember there will be hundreds if not thousands of applications that must be read and reviewed. You want to keep the reader's attention without going off topic! Short to the point and on topic is the key to success here!

Listing Accomplishments - Remember you want to keep the reader's attention and stand out in the crowd of applications they must read! Don't just make a list! This is boring and generic! Use your accomplishment to tie in with the requirements of the scholarship! For example, if you are applying for a teaching scholarship, you may want to use your previous accomplishment of being a Supervisor on a project that was successful and tie it in with a natural talent for TEACHING. Get the idea? Being specific and using the requirements of the scholarship to make your accomplishments increase your chances of being chosen is the edge you need!

Using these tips you will definitely increase your chances of being awarded all of the money you need to complete your degree!
