Oak Flooring For Your House

By:

Oak flooring is without doubt fabulous. It has got elegance, warmth and durability and will enhance the price of your property. It's also much more hygienic compared to carpeting which makes it a fantastic choice for the home.

English hardwoods are some of the nicest looking hardwoods on the planet and one of the best ways to show off their beauty is with floor covering. The trees take over a hundred years to grow to maturation and when they are cut they then have to lie for 3-5 years to reduce tension. Only after that should they be sawn into planks which will take a further 12 months to dry out naturally. The planks will be finished in a kiln to ensure they are stable. The planks are then fashioned into a state where they're to be installed as floor covering.

If you're tempted to fit oak, your local hardwood flooring supplier should be your first stop so that you can see samples. You'll find that there are two kinds of oak flooring - regular size and wide oak flooring. The wide oak flooring itself comes in a couple options - solid oak and engineered oak. The solid option is created purely from solid oak wood, but the engineered alternative is more stable. Both types of wide oak flooring look wonderful and they will mature with age.

Oak flooring complements any furniture and it is sure to brighten and cheer up your home, whilst adding a classy feel. There are a number of finishes and colours to choose from and so you will need to find the best one for your existing home.

White oak is harder than red and more protected from fungi but both offer high shock absorption and both are unlikely to split. White oak is the ideal option for bathing rooms and kitchen areas because it is virtually impermeable to liquids and so easier to clean.

When you have bought your flooring, you will find it surprisingly straightforward to install and maintain. It can be stuck, nailed or screwed in and then a weekly sweep should keep it looking good. You will need to clean the floorboards every now and then using a specialist cleaning product to keep the wood at its best but this is a small price to pay for the incredible beauty that your floor will provide you with for years to come.
