People who have graduated from any bachelors degree but want a career change can do some good by enrolling in the NYU accelerated nursing program. The nursing program offered by the New York University School of Nursing allows individuals to earn a nursing degree and to be registered nurses as quickly as possible. This accelerated nursing program is particularly beneficial for individuals who want to rise in their career as nurses and earn a high or higher salary.

Why choose NYU accelerated nursing program? You can opt to enroll in the program for several good reasons. Number one: The accelerated nursing program can be completed in 15 short months. In that span of time, students are educated on nursing principles and theories, as well as on practical skills in the health care setting. Number two: With the speed that the course can be taken, students are also trained how to be efficient even with the limited time given for studies. Through this, the students learn proper time-management and good study and work habits which will show when they join the work force later on.

What are the prerequisites for application to the NYU accelerated nursing program? The accelerated nursing program requires applicants to be college graduates of any baccalaureate degree from accredited two-year or four-year institutions. However, these college graduates should have passed and completed required courses. The prerequisite courses are: developmental psychology, chemistry with laboratory, anatomy, statistics, nutrition, microbiology, and physiology I and II. Applicants are also required to have a solid academic performance, with the lowest grade being C, prior to their application. An applicant with a C- in any of the prerequisite courses will not be accepted.

What are the requirements that must be met by a student applicant to the NYU accelerated nursing program? An applicant needs to be a graduate of a baccalaureate degree. The degree must be from a two-year or four-year course from an accredited institution. Further, the applicant must also have completed prerequisite courses determined by NYU. The courses that an applicant must have already finished include statistics, chemistry with laboratory, physiology I, physiology II, psychology, nutrition, developmental psychology, and anatomy. The applicant should also have good academic standing in the courses required by NYU. The program will refuse admission to an applicant with a rating of C-. The minimum grade requirement is C.

What about graduates of a baccalaureate degree but who have not taken any of the prerequisite courses, can they still apply for the NYU accelerated nursing program? Sure, they can. However, they can enroll in the BS program of the College of Nursing, provided that they complete all the required courses before they can move on to the 15-month accelerated nursing program. These student applicants should therefore not enroll directly into the NYU accelerated nursing program but in the usual BS or traditional program. In this case, students who enroll in the program but without all the prerequisite courses can finish the course in 24 months or 2 years instead of in only 15 months.

Choosing the NYU accelerated nursing program among the many accelerated nursing programs is a wise decision. NYU is known to be a quality institution with high standards. It also follows that its graduates possess the right knowledge and proficient skills that will prepare them for the actual medical and clinical work place.
