Nutritional Supplements Know The Facts

By:

Most nutritional supplements sold today are actually created in a laboratory. To my way of thinking, we didnt evolve to process laboratory chemicals. We evolved to get all our nutrients from food. So the best source of any good supplement should be a food, preferably a superfood.Luckily there are a few superfoods about. The one which contains the highest amount of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients is the blue green algae, also known as spirulina.

Most algae is grown in special concrete ponds in the ocean. But some is also grown in fresh water. And some isnt grown at all, not by humans. It grows all by itself, fed by mineral rich mountain streams, where man hasnt yet spread his pollution.

Harmonize your regular whole-food diet with the particular sports nutrition brand you are taking. What you are taking for breakfast, cereals for instance, may be fortified with vitamins and minerals. Choose between these numerous fortified products that would go along with Rocky Mountain Sports Nutrition.

There are a great number of things you can do to maximize your weight loss efforts. If you find that the hours in your day are limited, you can wake up just a half hour earlier and get your exercise in then. When you eat your dinner, try substituting that side of French fries with an extra helping of the broccoli you prepared instead. Park your car an extra 50 yards from the supermarket entrance, instead of trying to find the closest parking space you can. When you watch TV, do pushups or sit-ups or jumping jacks at the commercials, instead of eating a bag of potato chips mindlessly through your program.

It prevents the retention of water under the skin thus minimizing bloating and helping to create a ripped appearance. It helps the body to retain nitrogen that is essential to the muscle building process. Its vasodilating abilities support muscle growth. It enhances protein synthesis. It helps to boost the immune system allowing harder training and minimizing the minor illnesses that come from overtraining.

One myth that has run wild is that supplements are safer than prescription drugs because they are thought to be natural and chemical free. Unfortunately research has not shown this to be true across the board. Many independent tests have found that some supplements were contaminated with potentially harmful ingredients such as pesticides, bacteria and heavy metals. More recently, Consumer Reports tests found that labels on supplement bottles did not contain what they said nor was the dosage information correct. According to their research, a good strategy is to rely on more well known companies like GNC or vitamin shoppe over lesser known brands. These and other better known brands appear to have more consistent quality and safety.

The mineral zinc tends to be no more then 30mg in most formulas and no more is needed nor recommended. Much of this comes down to the consumer knowing what the various ingredients are and how they work (to decide if they are even worth using in the first place) then deciding if the said blend appears to at least contain a dose that would have the desired effects, which just brings us back to my prior comment: most people have neither the time or inclination to research all that info just to decide if they want to use a product and thus the many "proprietary blends" on the market that are no more than a long list of under-dosed ingredients.
