A person grows and get old. As time past by, we find ourselves looking and feeling weird. It's natural though. But the fact that as we age we need to cope-upwith the nutritional needs of adults to stay healthy and live longer. Many older adults need to take medications to control and avoid certain illness. Some need supplements to stay fit. Every adult needs to maintain their blood pressure, sugar levels etc. As adults age, they start losing calcium from bones so they need to take medications to support their bones. They must refrain from eating high-fat foods, low-complex carbohydrate diet and excessive amounts of meat, to prevent being obese thus , giving them hypertension and other related illness. Being an adult means you have to be very careful to what you eat.


Nutritional needs of the elderly

The elderly is what everyone need take care for. They need more attention since they are very weak. They now have much more damage cells are being prone to every disease. Nutritional needs for the elderly must be jam-packed with vitamins, minerals and proteins. Constipation seems to be a common problem to them. A high-fiber diet can prevent that and it helps them to avoid bowel problems. Zinc and iron is a must for them for it improves their immune system and keeps them energize to do certain thing they need to do. Saturated fat intake must be lessen or totally eliminated to prevent having hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
