Numerous People Who Tried Zyban And Chantix Successfully Quit Smoking - However, Can You Guess Which

If you think about it, November 19th was the Great American Smokeout Day and now New Years Day is just around the corner, so can think of a better time to think of quitting?. Non-smokers may find it hard to understand but a real fear for non-smokers is the effects of getting on the wagon. Quitting smoking can play havoc with low blood sugar levels and make you feel nauseous, lightheaded, make you put on weight (partly due to the sweet tooth that quitting on nicotine gives you), and give you trouble concentrating. Chantix and Zyban have been the two main smoker's drugs on the market to help quit smoking and work in a relatively painless manner. The oldest of the two, Zyban, has been on the market for over 40 years and has received some negative publicity with reports of seizures and similar concerns by those who have used it - giving cause for concern to any health-conscious smoker. However, when you look at the many methods available, Zyban and Chantix quit smoking for you in the most reliable and scientific way. So, if you are prepared to use the drug therapy route, which of the two drugs would prove to be the most successful?

Manufactured by Glaxo; Zyban is an FDA-approved drug to quit smoking with. People using Zybian quit smoking successfully but unfortunately for Glaxo the drug briefly had a poor reputation when some of the users started having seizures. It was later determined that the root cause was dosage levels and this has since been corrected. It was found that a dosage of just 450mg prevented the problem and it no longer causes any problems. Some interesting results when you compare people who try to quit smoking purely relying on self-motivation shows that only 3% of these people will succeed even over a short period of 3 months. However the results for those using Zyban show a 30% success rate - 10 times more success. However past the three-month mark, Zyban apparently stops being as effective a way - and is no more effective than the patch.

The 2nd drug used to help is Chantix; whereas Zyban was specifically developed for the treatment of depression, Chantix was purpose-built for smoking addiction. Both drugs work by making the act of smoking less pleasurable and thereby making quitting less painful. One further useful piece of information is that over the longer term, beyond the 3 months period, people who chose to use Zyban quit smoking far less successfully than Chantix which sees a 20% success rate over the longer term.

People who choose Chantix or Zyban quit smoking successfully, but wonder if the medicines cause a problem with weight gain. Unfortunately the facts are these, it is the quitting of the habit itself that makes you put on weight as discussed earlier, not much, but it does happen. There is a problem with using a drug like Chantix, a possible side-effect is depression which you do not get with Zyban as it was developed as an antidepressant. The government has hopes of getting a 12% decrease in the number of people who smoke, by next year. It doesn't look like the country is anywhere near quitting at that rate. Throwing facts and figures such as how you can live five years longer if you quit at 35, or three years longer if you quit at 65 does not motivate smokers and will not help in getting them on board. Nor do they want to hear about the other health benefits. But if sex is supposed to sell everything effectively though, could it be used to convince people that smoking makes things less hot in bed?
