Non Gas Powered Lawn Mowers - Are They Any Good?

By:

Non gas powered lawn mowers are increasing in demand over the past few years. When they first were introduced a lot of people steered clear of them because of valid concerns. However, as time has passed, more people have purchased them and the concerns slowly diminished.

Some people do have their concerns, but most of those concerns revolve around the performance, whether the corded or rechargeable battery is best. Hopefully, by the end of this article you will be able to determine whether or not an alternative lawn mower is the lawn mower for you and if so, which one will meet your needs the best.

It is important that you take into consideration, a few factors about your lawn before you begin narrowing down your options for non gas powered lawn mowers.

1. size of yard
2. type of grass (dry crunchy, soft and full)
3. obstacles (shed, trees, etc.)

The reason the size of your yard is important is because , on average, an electric mower can only mow up to an acre of land at most. However, if you have more than an acre this does not mean you can not use an electric mower. You probably would want to shy away from a corded electric lawn mower, but you could use a rechargeable battery operated electric lawn mower. It might be wise, with a larger yard to opt for an additional backup battery so you can complete your yard in one day instead of having to wait for the battery to recharge.

The type of grass you have is important because not all brands are created the same. For the softer grass it is best to go with a well known manufacturer. Staying with a company that has been around for a long time, you know you are getting the best for your money in overall product from performance to craftsmanship. Dry grass is easier to cut because it essentially breaks, so a cheaper model could prove effective.

The obstacles in the yard are important when determining the best non gas powered lawn mowers for your yard because you need to make sure you have enough cord to go around the obstacles if you choose a corded lawn mower.

If you feel you have too many obstacles in your yard that might get the cord caught up, a rechargeable mower might be the best option for you. All in all, electric mowers are worth it. They are worth the money and the time to research them just so you can do your part to protect the environment without having to slack on yard maintenance.
