Newport: Bmw Introduces New Model

By:

Newport: BMW plans to introduce a new model to America sometime later this year. The release date of this model, the new BMW X1, is a little hazy and has already been pushed back once this year. The reason for the delay is not, however, because BMW needed more time to make this vehicle worthwhile. Rather, BMW pushed back the release date of the new X1 in America because, after several incredible receptions of the vehicle around the world, BMW realized they have designed a masterpiece and the reaction in America will likely be no less enthusiastic. Therefore, BMW was forced to move back the US release date to be certain that their supply could meet Americas demand.
Therefore, the question of what makes this vehicle so great begs to be asked. Well, to start, the size and shape of the vehicle is extremely appealing, especially for residents of Newport. BMW took styling cues from the existing X3 crossover and the 1 and 3 Series sedans. Therefore, it offers drivers the best of both worlds from life as a sedan and life as a crossover/SUV. So what is it exactly? It is safe to describe the X1 as a baby crossover, and therefore its sizing is not too big, not too small, but just right.
Aside from the shape, the styling, lines and features of the BMW X1 are in keeping with the auto manufacturers current design language. This makes the vehicle attractive, but certainly nothing wildly new. The vehicle comes in several paint choices, some metallic in finish and some non-metallic, and sits on the consumers choice of 17 V-spoke wheels or 18 Y-spoke wheels.
The engine is a single twin-entry four-cylinder turbocharger with 241 horsepower. This is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, although a similar automatic transmission is expected for the States version of the X1. This engine, though not big, especially by BMW standards, powers the small vehicle nicely while still leaving room for some get-up-and-go fun. And as is always expected with a BMW, the vehicle handles perfectly and drives like a king.
The interior of the BMW X1 is again, exactly what one would expect to find on the inside of a BMW. The dash, center console and front seats do resemble more of BMWs SUV and crossover line up than its sedans. Specific accessories expected on the American version of the X1 have not been released, but it is reasonable to assume they will be the standard fare (which of course for BMW, is not exactly equivalent to an economy car brands standard fare).
Despite the fact that the BMW X1 features stylish lines, manageable size and a posh interior, these items alone are not reason enough for BMW execs belief that the X1 will sell like hotcakes in America. Rather, it is the fact that BMW is offering such an incredible vehicle at an extremely reasonable price. The Canadian model is under 50,000 Canadian Dollars. A similar price tag in America means the X1 will not sit for long on any Boston used BMW dealer or new BMW dealer lot.
