Its said that the efforts a team puts as it prepares for any game is as crucial as the game itself. Its because of this reason that the New York Jets made plans to build a new training complex; they wanted a lot more than just a training ground.

The new training complex is estimated to be worth $75 million, in a 27-acre piece of land. The team had to build a new training complex since the old training ground was considered small with inadequate modern facilities. The complex is situated on the former site of Exxons headquarters. Its being official opened for training this Tuesday. The Jets have been training at a center at Hofstra University on Long Island since 1968.

The designing and architectural work was done by a Skidmore architectural firm and Owings & Merrill respectively. The design for the new training complex was planned to be a bit swankier than the old training complex. It was supposed to meet the requirements of the teams training facilities in modern way. The training complex for instance has an indoor field, whose ceiling is approximately 97-foot-high; this is so because it can allow a punt to go as high as possible in the event of an actual game.

This new Jets training complex is infact four times bigger than the size of the old training complex at Hofstra. At Hofstra the team had three fields meant for training, a nondescript and a two storey brick building. The new training complex replacement is equivalent to Giants Stadium. The teams playing ground, has four training fields coupled with a spacious locker room and a weight room.

The complex also has coaches offices, studying classrooms for players to watch various films of games and practices, not to mention a state of art relaxing lounge and modern eatery.

The Jets will also move from their former offices from Manhattan and relocate them to Florham Park.

The new complex idea sprung as a deal whereby the New York Jets and the New York Giants signed an agreement to work together in an effort to building a new state of art stadium at the Meadowlands. It was even made easier when the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority decided to purchase 20 acres land for each team to build a new modern training complex.

The new Jets training complex center combines the best and modern artifacts of architectural and modern sports psychology. Players enter the center through an airy lobby with a full view of the main training field. This contrast many other teams training facilities, even at some N.F.L stadiums, players enter through the loading dock or a door adjacent to trash bins.

The New York Jets owners and management made the architectures and designers to come with a perfect design whose main focus was on the players and other team staffs. This was meant to build the teams morale, which is to win games.

The entire building, even the corporate offices, the floors has yard markers. The idea is no different: the complex is all about football. The main building has several classrooms, an auditorium with 161-seats and a video control room where other staff members are on standby 24 hours a day.
