New York Giants - Players Contract Extended

By:

At last after a period of 13 years, the New York giants have franchised a player, after Jumbo Elliott in 1993 and Rodney Hampton in 1996. Brandon Jacobs has been named as the new player who will be franchised by New York giants as a strategy of winning the up coming games this season. Brandon will receive a one year tender of top five largest salary packages as per the terms of CBA. Brandon will now receive a high amount of salary compared to what he used to get before because he will earn close to 6.6 million dollars.

The giants are hoping to reach an agreement with Jacobs who previously was their yard rusher behind their NFL leading attack for two seasons. After buying Brandon, the giants can also receive compensation from a team that wishes to buy him again before the expiry of his contract.

According to the general manager of the giants, Jerry Reese, they are looking forward to extending the contract for a longer period of time in the near future and Brandon sounds promising.

The coach Tom Coughlin believes that Brandon has the physical features which a team needs to be victorious. Brandon is what the giants players and fans need because he is a runner, good pass protector and very valuable. The giants believe that he just completes the philosophy of the team and will impact the progressiveness of the team in a big way bearing in mind that they led the just concluded season with 157.4 rushing yards per game, which resulted to a record of 5.0.

Brandon who is 6-4 264 pounds, is so pleased with the idea of the giants extending his contract and he believes that the giants will not regret that decision because he is glad to stay where he started it from and must finish at giants.

He just finished his fourth productive season with the club despite the fact that he missed out on three games following a knee injury. He remains the fourth running back in the history of the team after running for at least 1,000 yards for two consecutive seasons.

Brandon has enabled the giants win 8 out of 9 of its games. He is the second player in the team to be able to rush for 15 touch downs in 2008. Brandon remains tied to Ottis Anderson who is fifth on the franchise career list with his 35 career rushing touch downs.

Fans and team players of the New York giants will remember the year 2008, when Brandon managed a 5.0 yards a carry, to rush for at least 500 yards and maintain that high average. His team mate Derrick Ward managed to average 5.6 yards after rushing for 1,025 yards.

However with all that effort, Brandon does not believe he has accomplished everything. He is confident that with the help of his team mates like Ahmad and Danny, he will reach the super bowl in style.

The giants have lots of hope that they will complete the season since they have the chances of great goals.
