New York Comedies On Satellite Tv In Sunnyside

Hollywood has been known as an entertainment capital of sorts because of its long history in the movie industry, but New York wins out when considering its prominent place in popular entertainment today. The Big Apple and neighboring cities often provide the backdrop for musicians, filmmakers, television producers, and artists of all sorts. When looking for laughs in your Sunnyside residence, there are tons of hilarious shows and movies on satellite TV.

You might begin by tuning in to comedy that first aired over two decades ago, but still has plenty of relevance to life today. Seinfeld has been called the show about nothing, as each episode focuses on mundane activities from problems at the dry cleaners to dating misfortunes and missteps. The sitcom actually emerged from the stand-up comedy routines of Jerry Seinfeld, who plays one of the main characters of the same name. He is joined by George, Kramer, and Elaine. Four friends living in New York City, they encounter all sorts of obstacles in daily life and their exploits inevitability lead to outlandish situations.

Although the last episode was broadcast over a dozen years ago, episodes from the nine seasons of the hit series Seinfeld still entertain audiences everywhere and they have been syndicated on TBS. A high definition version has also been released, exemplifying continued interest in the show. The last episode has become infamous as a huge let-down for fans, when the four main characters end up sharing a jail cell. In the final season the satellite TV and cable series Curb Your Enthusiasm, the topic was rehashed. The main character, Larry David, wants to reunite the Seinfeld cast so the actors who played Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine all come back to act as themselves. If you have not yet seen Curb Your Enthusiasm, look for it on the TV Guide or TV Land networks.

While few comedies have been able to rival the success of Seinfeld, the sitcom Friends has come close. The basic premise has been questioned by quite a few, as the all-white cast barely seems to need to work in a city that is known for being culturally-diverse and expensive. Even so, millions of fans have been entertained by goofy Joey, society-inept Ross, sarcastic Chandler, obsessive-compulsive Monica, free-spirited Phoebe, and fashion-forward Rachel. The six friends deal with love, relationships, and career choices in the sitcom, common themes for young adults living in a city where anything and everything seems possible.

In addition to stand-out success, this series also became known as a truly ensemble performance because the six stars were given equal attention during the ten seasons. This was particularly true from the third season onwards, as they collectively negotiated salaries to ensure everyone was paid the same. If you are a loyal fan, there are plenty of episodes in syndication on satellite TV in Sunnyside. From the time Rachel and Ross get married to the sports tickets that allow Monica and Rachel to re-occupy their apartment, you can re-live the excitement or watch missed episodes for the very first time.
