Here are some tips and tricks that are rather simple, but rather effective in helping you save this year.

1. Time to bring lunch to work. You could start by bringing lunch for at least once or twice a week. Some spend too much in eating out or buying food rather than get a packed lunch. Some may even spend too much on £3-5 on foods that they just crave like sandwiches, cookies and or coffee. Now, spending £3-5 a day, you think it's quite okay, it's not a large amount; don't just think of the cost then and there, but look at how much your spending in the long run; think about all the money you could save in a long while. I mean, saving £3 a day; at the end of the month you already have £90 which is already a good sum. Make it a practice, a habit for you and your whole family. Most mums pack their kids lunches right? Now is high time that you learn to pack lunch, also do this with your husband. You will get used to it, think about the savings. I mean it may not mean a lot right now but looking at the big picture, it's a start for you.

2. Learn to manage time more wisely. So what does time have to do with saving money? Well, as the saying goes, "time is gold". If you find yourself to be so busy that you're like short on time, then it's time you organise and list all the things you need to do before hand; or better yet, make a list ahead of time. You might be a parents, a single parent who needs to tackle work, children and chores everyday for the whole week, now you might find yourself getting unorganised with your time and schedule. So it's time to get organised, whenever there is an upcoming schedule then put it in a timeline. Manage your chores and tasks in that give time. When you need to buy something then make sure that you make a list so you won't have to waste money commuting back and forth because you forgot something. When you start to organise, you'd be more efficient and save more time.

3. Pay bills on time. These companies are so quick in charging you a fine if you are just one day overdue, don't let them do that to you. Overdue fines and interests are such a big waste of money. include this on your everyday plan and make sure that you see it- "Pay the bills on TIME"!". Paying for these fines are a waste of money, over due bills are a big hit to your budgeting. You are already paying taxes, your bills, the kid's school, you don't need any additional fines. All that money that you pay for these fines, would be enough to pay at least a month or two of your monthly bill. Make it a practice to pay your bills on time to avoid fines.

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you start saving money this year, add this up to your new years resolution list. Today is a new year, it's time that you leave all those irresponsible acts of the last year behind and adapt to a better, new ways of living- being a more responsible, organised, time-saving, money-saving and happy citizen.
