A new field office was on October 14, 2010 by
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in Holtsville, Long Island. USCIS Director, Alejandro Mayorkas along with Charles Akalski, the new Holtsville Field Office Director and Andrea Quarantillo, USCIS New York District Director, presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony, which marked the grand opening.
During the grand opening, Director Mayorkas mentioned that USCIS is proud to open the new USCIS field office in Holtsville. He further added that USCIS is striving hard to provide easily accessible locations all over the country and thereby offering excellent customer service.
USCIS Director, Andrea Quarantillo stated that the USCIS customers in Queens Counties, Suffolk, and Nassau will no more have to travel to other USCIS field offices for immigration services as the new USCIS field office in Holtsville has all the facilities.
USCIS arrived at the new location based on its accessibility to all major traffic routes. The new
USCIS field office in Holtsville is fully equipped and is capable of serving up to 400 USCIS customers from Queens Counties, Suffolk, and Nassau in a day. USCIS opened the new 47,000 square foot field office in order to provide efficient, customer-friendly, and easily accessible offices to its customers. Several other states of the country including, Texas, North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, Massachusetts, Colorado, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and New Hampshire have seen the opening of similar field offices in the past three years.
The new field office offers a new InfoPass customer service tool through which appointments with Immigration Services Officers can be scheduled by USCIS customers. Additionally, the new office features a large waiting area and a room for organizing naturalization ceremonies, in addition to rooms specific for immigration interviews. USCIS has assigned around 100 federal and contract employees to work at the new field office.These employees were previously assigned to work for the USCIS field office in Garden City.
